Originally from San Pedro, California, I discovered the magic of photography as a child. On my 13th birthday, I received a photo enlarger and spent countless hours in a makeshift darkroom—my family bathroom—learning the delicate art of developing and printing black-and-white film.
In the late 1980s, I moved to Arcata to attend Humboldt State University. While studying Journalism and Public Relations, I sharpened my skills in the campus darkrooms and contributed photography to The Lumberjack and The Osprey.
A Life of Service and a Passion for Light
For over three decades, my focus was on serving our community. I spent nearly 20 years as a dispatcher for a local police department and served over 30 years as a volunteer firefighter and engineer with the Arcata Volunteer Fire Department.
While raising my two sons alongside my wife, Kelli, my camera was never far away. The shift from film to digital SLR reignited my creative spark, pushing my passion for photography into high gear.
While I love capturing images wherever my travels take me, the mist-filled forests and rugged beaches of Humboldt County remain my greatest inspiration.
Recognition and Artistry
My work has been featured in National Geographic children’s books and is displayed in several local businesses throughout the North Coast.
By combining a classic artistic eye with modern post-processing techniques, I strive to create fine art prints that bring the quiet majesty of nature into your home or office.
When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me traveling, collecting vintage camera lenses, or playing electric guitar.
Thank you for being part of this journey!
